Now, I've searched several sites on the 'net and found lyrics to this song that were close. Most were off just a tad. But here are the ones that I believe are correct... This song is available via Amazon MP3 download and supposedly iTunes. But since I don't use iTunes, I cannot vouch for that.

What's New?

. : : Currently listening to: White Zombie - More Human Than Human : : .

Well, I had a post I started writing just after Christmas, but never finished it. I think I will just start over with this new post. What's new in the land of wyldrob?

There are a few things. I am no longer working on second shift. Now I am on first. It has taken some getting used to this. As many of you know I was in the habit of staying up really late most of the time. Ever since this move to first shift, I no longer do that. I couldn't tell you the last time I was up past Midnight. Certain people who shall remain nameless have even poked fun at me for being in bed at 9 PM. Well, I know my limits. I cannot function on little sleep, so there.

I recently acquired a new server as well. It's a pretty peppy machine. So far I like it, but it did take me a little while to get some bugs worked out of it. But it's up & running now. Now, I just need a server rack to put all this stuff in.

I am contemplating moving my web server into VMware. I am not sure how difficult it would be, nor do I know if it would slow things down or speed them up. I would hope that it would speed them up. I do know that no more traffic than I have, I shouldn't have problems with it. I just have to consider the options. I am also fairly certain there are tools that will migrate my current server into VMware. I have no experience with these utilities, but that doesn't mean I cannot learn.

How many people have ever used GIMP? I downloaded it today and have been toying with it. It's a pretty powerful program. I am still learning what all it can do. I have created a handful of new images with it already. I am going to make some more for this site. Several of the ones on here have been here for close to ten years. Ten years, damn that is a long time! It's hard to believe that this site is over 10 years old.

That's right ladies and gentlemen, I started my first website back in 1997. It has come a long way since then. A few of you might even remember where it all started, Geocities. From there it went to Tripod, and now it's on my own server with my own domain name. Of course most of the content has changed several times. Most recently, last quarter I did a site redesign. I've heard lots of positive comments about it as well. I think everything is settled and working correctly. If you notice something, just drop me a line.

Passwords

. : : Currently listening to: Breaking Benjamin - Until The End : : .

I just saw a bulletin on MySpace that makes me want to rant here a little bit. It's mostly dealing with passwords, but there are some other general PC security tips here as well.

First and foremost, create secure passwords. A good strong password will contain at least three of the following:

Upper Case Letters

Lower Case Letters

Numbers

Special Characters (such as & * % $, etc)

Sometimes system owners/administrators make it where special characters are not allowed. If the system will allow them, use them. It helps tremendously. There are also tips and tricks for creating passwords. For instance, never use part of your name, birthday, girlfriend/boyfriend/spouse/pet/children's name or birthday. It also helps if you create some sort of sentence or phrase and use the letters of each word (and punctuation) to make your password. A good rule of thumb is to create at least an 8 character password as well. The longer the password, the harder it will be for someone to crack it.

Never store your passwords on shared PC's/workstations. I know it's very easy to just let the PC remember the password. But if it is a shared PC, then you're asking for someone to come behind you and look at your info. Be mindful when storing passwords on non-shared PC's as well. Remember, these PC's can be stolen or hacked. This makes all your stored info vulnerable.

Never write your passwords down. If they are too complex to remember, then find another password. A password should never be too complex for the owner to remember. If you feel that you must write down the passwords, get a password storing program. Such programs encrypt the files that contain the passwords and require a password to open them. These types of programs are extremely helpful if one has lots of passwords to remember. I don't have any experience with these programs. If you have any good info, please leave a comment.

Here are a few sites that contain good password creation tips/methods:
http://www.securitystats.com/tools/password.php
http://searchwindowssecurity.techtarget.com/originalContent/0,289142,sid45_gci1044739,00.html
http://uit.tufts.edu/?pid=232

In addition, here are a couple of sites that will check the "strength" of a password:
http://www.securitystats.com/tools/password.php
http://www.microsoft.com/protect/yourself/password/checker.mspx

Please leave your comments if you have any other password ideas to share!

. : : Currently listening to: Aerosmith - Come Together : : .

It took me a little work, but I managed to fix the jokes blog. It was a fairly simple problem. I just overlooked the files. When the site was initially published, the main file was index.html. I changed it to index.shtml, but forgot to remove the .html file. Well, I've removed that and it's all better now. In doing that I also found that all the blogs were pointing to archives.html instead of .shtml. Now all of those are fixed as well.

If you notice any other things not working, use the email link and bring it to my attention!

. : : Currently listening to: Egypt central - You Make Me Sick : : .

What in the hell is there to do at 3:30 AM when one can't sleep? I certainly can't find a damn thing to do. I guess I can only blame myself. I was laying around watching TV and fell asleep around 9:30PM. I woke up about an hour ago and now can't go back to sleep. I should try to do something constructive, but I am not motivated.

I have tried to work on the jokes blog a bit, but I cannot seem to get the style sheet correct on it. I really have no idea what is causing it either. I have copied everything from this blog and it never displays correctly. I think I have missed something, but for the life of me I have been unable to find it. Who wants to help me figure out the code issues? You'll have to email me for the link.

OK, so I have upgraded this MT stuff to version 4. I think everything is going OK. I just have to test it out to see. I know it messed up the gallery pages, but not from a view prospective. Everything was still the same, I just could not publish anything. I believe that is all corrected. It's not fully implemented, but I can at least continue to post pictures until the author gets everything finished.

Let me know if you find anything that is kind of quirky. I'll take a look into it and see if it's something that can be fixed.

I did it! I managed to put some sort of photo gallery on here. It's powered by Moveable Type. It works pretty good so far. I still have some tweaks to do to it. I'll try to work on those over the next couple of days. One thing that needs to be implemented is a navigation bar. There isn't one on there yet, so I have to do that. I have to figure out how to make it work. I've not had much luck getting SSI to work with PHP in the past. I might have to do a lot of reseach on it before it will work correctly.

So He's Gay?

. : : Currently listening to: Hurt - Ten Ton Brick : : .

How many of you have heard about JK Rowling's revelation last weekend in NYC? If you have not heard, she outed Albus Dumbledore as being gay. So here's the real question. Did she do it for more publicity or was this really her feelings for this character during the entire series? If this was her feeling, how come she's waited until now to reveal it?

I know that is going to make all the "Harry Potter Is Evil" groups dislike the series even more. So what is your take on that entire ordeal? For more check out the article at <a href="http://www.the-leaky-cauldron.org/2007/10/20/j-k-rowling-at-carnegie-hall-reveals-dumbledore-is-gay-neville-marries-hannah-abbott-and-scores-more" target="_blank" title="The Leaky Cauldron: J. Has anyone commented on my new layout? No, they haven't. Consequently I have not taken the time to redo anymore pages either. I have been so busy doing other things lately, so I have not had much time to work on the web site. I am really not sure exactly what I want to do with it. There are lots of things that might go. I just haven't decided yet. I know I have a lot of work to do with some pages. Most of them are controlled via style sheets, which makes it much easier to redo everything. There are some (like the picture pages) which do not. Of course, I might find another way to display pictures. I might even be able to do those with Moveable Type. That's something I should check into. If would be much easier to have them in MT than static pages. Wish me luck on that.

Does anyone have any interesting stories to share these days?

I'm Disappointed

. : : Currently listening to: Hanson - Strong Enough To Break : : .

OK, I know at least one person read this blog today. No one has even posted a comment as to my new design! How am I supposed to know what you think when you don't post comments?

The work day wasn't too bad. I was bored at times, but I managed to make it through. Now I am off for the weekend. First thing tomorrow I have to go do some work for someone. It's semi-computer related. It should be interesting to see if I can get the problem fixed or not. This lady has a tanning salon and her timer for the tanning beds isn't communcating correctly. From a preliminary investigation, I believe she has a wiring problem in the first segment. But I'll try to find out more tomorrow. And if I get the problem fixed, it is one more thing that I can add to my resume!

Well, I have fiddled a little more with the layout on here. I had to add back the "media" links so the song listings would be as I wanted them. I believe I have everything all set up now. I am planning to redo the majority of this site. I just don't know how much I can actually get done over the next week or two. Be on the lookout for changes.

And if anyone is interested... Here's the most searched tems from Sept 2007 (all had the same number of hits):

chat wavs

cooter clevage

who sings the song little miss can t be wrong

green

random

lyrics hit that bitch with a bottle

dickydo award

And the page with the most hits (33) is the main entry page, with the blog page being in second (22 hits). Yahoo is the search engine that crawls the site the most (687 hits).

Green Lemons?

. : : Currently listening to: Nickelback - Rockstar : : .

OK, so who the hell out there has ever heard of green lemons? Jason, Rubenia & I were at Monterrey's Mexican Restaurant a couple of weeks and the waitress actually said something about having to get a green lemon. I was like what the fuck is she talking about. Who has ever heard of a lime being called a green lemon? Needless to say, we got a kick out of it. So next time you order a Corona, tell them you want a green lemon with it instead of the lime. Let me know if you get a peculiar look like we gave each other after hearing that.

Nothing really special is going on right now. I did go to a concert nearly two weeks ago. It was awesome, even though there were too many drunk idiots there. I got to see Hinder, Crossfade, Breaking Benjamin, Three Days Grace & Staind. It was an awesome show. Now I am trying to find another good show to go see. I have an idea of who I'd like to see (Audioslave among others), but they're not on tour right now. Keep an eye out for good shows coming to Atlanta & Charlotte and give me a buzz if it's something good :-)
