Psycho

. : : Currently listening to: Puddle Of Mudd - Psycho : : .

OK, I heard this song today on Sirius 20 - Octane. I had to post the lyrics since I like the song. It makes me think of someone. Care to guess to whom I'm referring?

Upgrade!

. : : Currently listening to: The Black Crowes - Hard To Handle : : .

OK, so I have upgraded this MT stuff to version 4. I think everything is going OK. I just have to test it out to see. I know it messed up the gallery pages, but not from a view prospective. Everything was still the same, I just could not publish anything. I believe that is all corrected. It's not fully implemented, but I can at least continue to post pictures until the author gets everything finished.

Let me know if you find anything that is kind of quirky. I'll take a look into it and see if it's something that can be fixed.

It's Done!

. : : Currently listening to: Wallflowers - 6th Avenue Heartache : : .

So for those of you who do not regularly visit my site - IOW, you have this link saved in your RSS reader - check it out! I've redone the site. YAY! I still have to redo one page, the jokes page. I am going to work on that later. I am out of time today, as I have to get ready and head off to work.

Tomorrow is class day, so it will be at least tomorrow evening before I can get a chance to work on it again. Please leave your comments to let me know what you think of the new layout. I am going to reword a lot of the pages later. I just had to get the design in place first.

Awake Again

. : : Currently listening to: Egypt central - You Make Me Sick : : .

What in the hell is there to do at 3:30 AM when one can't sleep? I certainly can't find a damn thing to do. I guess I can only blame myself. I was laying around watching TV and fell asleep around 9:30PM. I woke up about an hour ago and now can't go back to sleep. I should try to do something constructive, but I am not motivated.

I have tried to work on the jokes blog a bit, but I cannot seem to get the style sheet correct on it. I really have no idea what is causing it either. I have copied everything from this blog and it never displays correctly. I think I have missed something, but for the life of me I have been unable to find it. Who wants to help me figure out the code issues? You'll have to email me for the link.

Who is ready for the holidays?

I fixed it!

. : : Currently listening to: Aerosmith - Come Together : : .

It took me a little work, but I managed to fix the jokes blog. It was a fairly simple problem. I just overlooked the files. When the site was initially published, the main file was index.html. I changed it to index.shtml, but forgot to remove the .html file. Well, I've removed that and it's all better now. In doing that I also found that all the blogs were pointing to archives.html instead of .shtml. Now all of those are fixed as well.

If you notice any other things not working, use the email link and bring it to my attention!

Passwords

. : : Currently listening to: Breaking Benjamin - Until The End : : .

I just saw a bulletin on MySpace that makes me want to rant here a little bit. It's mostly dealing with passwords, but there are some other general PC security tips here as well.

First and foremost, create secure passwords. A good strong password will contain at least three of the following:

  • Upper Case Letters

  • Lower Case Letters

  • Numbers

  • Special Characters (such as & * % $, etc)

Sometimes system owners/administrators make it where special characters are not allowed. If the system will allow them, use them. It helps tremendously. There are also tips and tricks for creating passwords. For instance, never use part of your name, birthday, girlfriend/boyfriend/spouse/pet/children's name or birthday. It also helps if you create some sort of sentence or phrase and use the letters of each word (and punctuation) to make your password. A good rule of thumb is to create at least an 8 character password as well. The longer the password, the harder it will be for someone to crack it.

Never store your passwords on shared PC's/workstations. I know it's very easy to just let the PC remember the password. But if it is a shared PC, then you're asking for someone to come behind you and look at your info. Be mindful when storing passwords on non-shared PC's as well. Remember, these PC's can be stolen or hacked. This makes all your stored info vulnerable.

Never write your passwords down. If they are too complex to remember, then find another password. A password should never be too complex for the owner to remember. If you feel that you must write down the passwords, get a password storing program. Such programs encrypt the files that contain the passwords and require a password to open them. These types of programs are extremely helpful if one has lots of passwords to remember. I don't have any experience with these programs. If you have any good info, please leave a comment.
