What Does the New Year Bring?

:: Currently listening to: Foo Fighters - Learn to Fly ::

I hope the new year brings a new good paying, well likable job for me! Christmas wasn't too bad. I got a few things that I wanted, and of course some things I didn't know I wanted. Fortunately I didn't get anything that will get re-gifted next Christmas. I invited my family to have Christmas dinner at my house. That was really fun. I think I had like 7 people here in my little house. It was rather interesting. But all in all it was a good day.

What did I receive? Well I got some cash, a new hard drive for my server, a DVD burner, a few candles, and some other little items. I can't really complain. I am really putting that new HDD and DVD burner to use. Now let's take bets on how long it will be before that new hard drive is full! I hope it will be a long time. I am trying to keep all the data backed up. I don't want to have another data disaster like I had last week

As many of you know I have a huge collection of MP3's. I would have to guess somewhere in the neighborhood of 10,000. That is just a guesstimate. A lot of stuff I have on CD, but I had tons of stuff on my hard drive -- about 37.5 GB worth. For some reason over half of them got cleaned for me the first part of last week. Needless to say I am still trying to get all of them replaced. It's going to be a long, tedious process. I have been lucky as I got probably about 60-70% replaced already. I am not sure how long it will be before I get all of them. But I am slowly working on it. This time tho, I am making DVD backups of the stuff on the hard drive. I don't want to have to go through this again.

So tell me - with your comments - how were your holidays? Any disasters (or near disasters) you want to share?

National News

:: Currently listening to: Journey - Separate Ways (World's Apart) ::

This is something that doesn't happen every day. And that is definitely a good thing! If you have not heard there was a bad train crash early this morning. It made national news, like on Fox News, and CNN. It is pretty bad. I suggest you read up on it a bit if you have not. It happened about four miles from my house. And it happened right by the old place where I worked, Avondale Mills. I know of several people from that plant who were hospitalized. They are not saying if anyone from the plant has died. But time will tell. I have been up for over 24 hours now as I want to get as many details as possible. My heart goes out to all of those involved by this tragedy.

Getting Back To Normal

:: Currently listening to: Creed - Pity For A Dime ::

Things have gotten a lot more quiet since my last post in here. As it turns out - just in case you didn't know - there were a total of 9 deaths from the train wreck on January 6th. Six of those nine people worked for Avondale Mills. The other three were a Graniteville resident, a truck driver from Quebec, and the train engineer. All died as a result of chlorine inhalation according to news reports. This has been very tough on a lot of people. I know several people who were hospitalized as a result of the accident.

On other news I am still looking for a new job. As usual I am putting in applications and sending out my resume. I have not had much luck with anything yet. I am still keeping my fingers crossed tho.

Raise your hand if you knew just how vast my MP3 collection was! I am glad to say that I have most of the lost MP3's back. There are still some songs I am looking for. But for the most part it's back. And now that I have a DVD burner I think I am going to make backups of the MP3's I have. I don't want to loose them like that again. Another thing I did was take off all the extra stuff that I rarely listen to. As of right now I have about 20 GB worth of MP3's on my server. When I get everything settled back on there, I am going to make my backups. I still have to do a little rearranging and stuff before I do that tho.

Well I guess that is it for now. I am thinking of redoing some of my blog pages. I can't decide just yet tho. But you'll see it if I decide to do it!
